This tables gives an overview of transfers of knowledge in several countries. Transfer of knowledge refers to immigrants and expatriates subdivided into highly educated and less educated. The transfer of highly educated migrants gives an indication of the level of international exchange of knowledge. An increase in the number of (foreign) highly educated workers in a country has a positive influence on the investment climate and increases the attraction on innovative activity.
Note: Comparable definitions are used to compare the presented figures internationally. The definitions sometimes differ from definitions used by Statistics Netherlands. The figures in this table could differ from Dutch figures presented elsewhere on the website of Statistics Netherlands.
Data available for 2000-2002. The figures are a combination of censuses carried out in 2000, 2001 or 2002.
